Job Title: Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships

United Way Bay Area seeks a seasoned professional to lead the philanthropic engagement of corporate and institutional partners across the Bay Area. The Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships will identify, cultivate, and manage all corporate and institutional relationships for the organization, with a focus on securing and maintaining six- to seven-figure donations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional partnerships strategy to secure funding for United Way Bay Area's priority programs.
  • Lead the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of corporate and institutional funders, including private foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Oversee the creation of proposals and reports for institutional giving, securing over $9M annually to support general operating grants, government contracts, and program-specific partnerships.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing institutional and corporate funders and secure new private, corporate, and public sector grant opportunities to support United Way Bay Area's initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the VP, Development and Chief Advancement Officer to coordinate, cultivate, and execute all aspects of institutional relationships and grants management.
  • Supervise the Institutional Partnerships team, including a Grants Manager and a Director, Institutional Partnerships, and oversee the work of an external consultant as needed.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in institutional partnership team leadership, including the management of direct reports.
  • Proven track record in successfully applying for and fulfilling corporate, foundation, and state and federal government grants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex relationships skillfully.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience in recordkeeping, reporting, grant preparation, and submission.
  • Strong technology skills, including competency in Word, Excel, research databases, and CRM tools, particularly Salesforce.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary range of $136,000 - $144,000.
