Financial Reporting Manager Job Description

About the Role

The Financial Reporting Manager will be responsible for effective management of financial reporting, monitoring internal controls over financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. This position will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing external and internal financial statements, general accounting responsibilities, and special projects within the Accounting Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly internal and external financial statements and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
  • Manage SOX compliance, including reviewing key controls to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate with internal, external, state, and regulatory auditors to ensure requests are completed correctly and timely.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing timely completion of state and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments, including Licensing and Compliance, and business systems, such as payroll, servicing, and general ledger/AP.
  • Perform technical accounting responsibilities, including research and monitoring new accounting pronouncements, analyzing financial, accounting, and operational impacts of proposed transactions, and developing accounting policies for day-to-day business activities.
  • Assist in the monthly close process, perform variance analysis, review and prepare accruals, compensation calculations, statistical analysis, and review reconciliations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA required.
  • 5+ years of relevant management experience.
  • Prior experience with a major audit firm.
  • Financial statement preparation experience.
  • Mortgage or financial services industry experience preferred.
  • General ledger conversion experience a plus.

Physical and Office/Site Presence Requirements

Regular, in-person attendance at Company communities/job sites and offices during regular work hours is an essential function of this job. Requires the ability to work more than eight hours per day in the confined quarters of a construction trailer, the ability to operate a motor vehicle, read plans, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and/or carry equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds. Job may require occasional operation of construction equipment.
