POSITION SUMMARY:

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a construction project. This role includes preparing work schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and site regulations.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

The Superintendent will report to the Field Operations Coordinator and Project Executive, as determined by the project team’s organizational structure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and direction for daily field operations.
  • Develop, update, and monitor project schedules from initial design through to project completion.
  • Create timelines and critical path schedules.
  • Track project durations and ensure adherence to procedures regarding construction delays.
  • Monitor subcontractor completions, submittals, and lead times; coordinate with the Project Manager to prevent delays in field activities.
  • Assist in coordinating material submittals and deliveries.
  • Update project schedules on a weekly basis.
  • Prepare a three-week look-ahead schedule to be submitted to the project team and Field Operations Coordinator every Friday.
  • Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings and effectively communicate schedules and outcomes to the project team.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and coordinate with the Project Manager to address any non-compliance issues.
  • Resolve vendor and subcontractor issues using project drawings, scopes, and contracts.
  • Maintain familiarity with Contract Plans, Specifications, and Agreements to identify changes and conflicts.
  • Provide written notifications to the Project Manager regarding any issues, including non-compliance and contract discrepancies.
  • Assist in setting up the job trailer, ensuring safety, security, and organization of plans and schedules.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, including daily job logs and compliance documentation.
  • Inspect and monitor daily work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
  • Identify and address subcontractor non-compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Communicate with the project team regarding ASIs, RFIs, and material submittals.
  • Schedule and train site personnel, ensuring compliance and remediation of non-compliant work.
  • Assist in developing punch lists and ensuring their successful completion.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to planning and scheduling processes.
  • Participate in kickoff and turnover meetings to ensure project requirements are understood.
  • Attend departmental meetings as required and collaborate with the Field Operations Coordinator for feedback.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site and building.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt and remain efficient in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work under pressure and manage diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Thorough understanding of construction legal requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to make informed decisions quickly to resolve issues.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience in construction is required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in construction management is preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-10 years of construction experience is required; shorter experience may be considered.
  • OSHA certification is required or willingness to obtain necessary certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Exposure to typical construction site hazards.
  • Ability to access and inspect all areas of the job site in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance are required.
