Position Overview - VP Business Risk and Control Officer
We are looking for a Business Risk and Control Officer to support the TB&E Chief Operating Office. This role involves providing continuous oversight and expertise in risk and control, facilitating formal governance processes that allow for the identification, mitigation, and escalation of operational risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing and coordinating the Managers Control Assessment (MCA) for the division.
- Oversee the identification, documentation, and remediation of issues and corrective action plans (CAPs).
- Identify control gaps and collaborate to develop action plans for risk mitigation.
- Manage risk appetite metrics to ensure effective delivery of mitigating actions.
- Evaluate risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while safeguarding the firm's reputation.
- Report control issues transparently and hold individuals accountable for maintaining standards.
- Collaborate with business partners on findings and recommend improvements.
- Develop procedural implementation and change management processes to ensure governance and controls.
- Review procedures for regulatory consistency and customer experience impact.
- Conduct internal testing of dispute processes to ensure control effectiveness.
- Monitor exceptions to dispute policies and identify underlying causes.
- Utilize data to assess impacts on customer experience and regulatory compliance.
- Operate with a degree of autonomy and independent judgment.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and team members.
- 6-10 years of experience in developing, implementing, or testing controls within risk management.
- 5+ years of experience in a technology-driven organization.
- Familiarity with Managers Control Assessment (MCA) processes.
- Ability to work effectively across various functions.
- Capability to balance strategic objectives with tactical execution.
- Proven track record in making impactful business decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with tools such as Excel, Access, SQL, or Cognos.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organizational influencing abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; higher-level graduate degree preferred.
