Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the nursing unit, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process, transfer, and discharge patients using the Admit-Discharge-Transfer (ADT) system in the electronic medical record.
  • Answer and route internal and external telephone calls, providing excellent customer service.
  • Order materials and supplies for the unit, collecting equipment and medication as needed.
  • Respond to call lights, alarms, and patient requests, prioritizing tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring confidentiality and security.
  • Assist unit personnel with the use of electronic medical records and other systems, providing technical support as needed.
  • Coordinate discharge times, contacting family members and facilitating a timely discharge when the patient is ready.
  • Participate in hourly rounding to promote service excellence and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including floating to other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Successful completion of medical terminology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Working knowledge of PCs and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to clearly speak, read, write, and thoroughly understand English.
  • Ability to learn policies and procedures, software applications, and medical terminology.
Working Environment

This is an on-call position, with days and hours varying. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
