Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Engineer develops process capabilities and efficiencies in support of Company strategies and goals. This role identifies key processes for development and/or improvement, develops teams and tools to measure, analyze, implement/optimize and monitor process improvements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Working as a Full-time onsite position at our Chatsworth, California location.
- Preferred shift time is Monday – Friday, 7am – 330pm; other shift times may be available.
- Auditing and recommending key processes for development and/or improvement, including all administrative and operational processes.
- Creating written work instructions.
- Providing detailed drawings and modes to augment work instructions.
- Developing and executing process routers, drawing, inspection plans and other written documentation changes.
- Performing process evaluation for corrective action and product development.
- Assisting quoting team with methods, time estimates, and cost data for customer quotations.
- Communicating project status and milestones to internal stakeholders.
- Oversight of long-term government programs.
- Supporting and tracking progress against the annual Continuous Improvement Plan.
- Leading project teams and utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to achieve objectives.
- Identifying and acquiring resources to implement plans, including internal staff time, tooling purchases, equipment acquisitions, and outside services for efficiency.
- Conducting time studies.
- Managing the 6S Program and conducting audits.
- Optimizing machine efficiency.
- Daily shop floor interaction with operators on tooling and process optimization.
- Executing each project by deadline.
- Reviewing MOs prior to release for engineering standards review, improvement opportunities, preparation of machine performance, and identifying KPIs for tracking.
- Leading brainstorming sessions, Value Stream Mapping, and Pareto Analysis to identify and quantify improvement opportunities.
- Leading A3 Problem-Solving and Kaizen Events.
- Implementing Six Sigma Projects (DMAIC).
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in lean manufacturing.
- Solidworks proficiency.
- Formal training and experience in project management and Kaizen facilitation.
- Experience in continuous improvement activities, lean manufacturing, and six sigma principles.
- Basic shop math skills.
- Good Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership ability.
- Multitasking skills.
Preferred Requirements:
- CNC programming experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of study.
- Certification from a Six Sigma belt program.
Physical Demands:
This job requires frequent standing and walking throughout the workday. The employee is expected to lift or move up to 50lbs, reach forward, up, down, and to the side to move equipment, and access information from a computer.
Work Environment:
The majority of work time is spent in a machine shop with varying temperatures, exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and vapor from coolant. Industry-standard safety equipment is provided, and specific notice is posted where safety equipment is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: $115,000 - $125,000 annually, based on experience, plus shift differential pay rates. Employee benefits include medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability, and a 401(k) plan with up to 6% company match.
