Job SummaryWe are seeking an Early-Career Geologist to join our team in Sacramento, California. As a member of our contaminated site assessment & remediation practice, you will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.
Key Responsibilities- Support a wide variety of projects involving environmental investigations and remediation activities;
- Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M;
- Coordinate and implement field projects, oversee drilling, monitoring, sampling, and overseeing treatment system operations;
- Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
- Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, and implementation;
- Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
- Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
- Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
- Interface directly with project internal and external personnel including, but not limited to, principals, business operations personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.
- Bachelors degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related degree (required);
- Advanced degree in the same (preferred);
- Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or on track to obtain GIT (preferred);
- At least 2 years of professional services consulting experience that includes environmental field investigation, construction monitoring in the field, execution of Phase I/Phase II environmental assessments, evaluation of environmental data, and presentation of technical solutions (preferred);
- Prior internship experience in consulting (preferred);
- Observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling and logging using the USCS classification, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques (preferred);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (required);
- Demonstrated strong interest in contaminant remediation and/or quantitative hydrogeology (preferred);
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred);
- Ability to multi-task and take directions with willingness to support multiple projects simultaneously (required);
- Regular field work and overnight travel (required);
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required;
- Valid U.S. drivers license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
The typical base salary range for this position is $66,560/year - $82,495/year or $26.25/hour - $32.00/hour, depending on location and qualifications.
