Job Title: Direct Support Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at AEDD. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting an individual with developmental disabilities to live independently in their home or family environment.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional provides essential support to enable individuals with developmental disabilities to live, work, and enjoy recreational opportunities in the community. This includes providing health and independent living skills, assisting with daily living activities, and promoting community awareness through outings and social events.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support with health and independent living skills, including activities of daily living.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate behavior and respect for others in the home and community.
  • Support daily living skills as outlined in the annual Medicaid Waiver Person Centered Service Plan.
  • Participate in outings to increase community awareness, including shopping, social events, appointments, and other activities of interest.
  • Provide transportation, as needed, via personal vehicle, ensuring compliance with Arkansas State minimum auto liability insurance requirements.
  • Maintain records of expenses for consumers served and submit to the Direct Care Supervisor.
  • Contribute to the development of the Annual PCSP plan and provide input and recommendations.
  • Document consumer progress on timesheets, behavior incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Complete required training, including orientation, consumer-specific training, Defensive Driver training, and in-service training.
  • Submit weekly timesheets, medication sheets, and other documentation to the Direct Care Supervisor by Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience with a public health, human services, or community service agency. Alternatively, you may have a minimum of two years of verifiable experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to operate a motor vehicle and adhere to AEDD's policies regarding substance use and impairment.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to understand written activity plans, and the capacity to document services delivered.
