Role Overview: Oversee, coordinate, and direct the Manufacturing Engineering functions within the facility, providing engineering guidance and support to production and various departments. The focus of the Manufacturing Engineer's responsibilities is on manufacturing systems, processes, standards, tooling, and the integration of new technologies, all aimed at achieving optimal production efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and implement strategies for cost reduction, quality enhancement, safety improvements, and ergonomic advancements.
  2. Introduce new manufacturing processes and technologies utilizing lean methodologies and Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) strategies.
  3. Develop and maintain job routers to optimize production efficiency.
  4. Conduct time studies to assess job performance and adjust job routers accordingly.
  5. Design and recommend production fixtures and tooling.
  6. Evaluate make/buy decisions based on data analysis, process flow, and product handling safety.
  7. Create, design, and disseminate procedural standards, operational instructions, and manuals.
  8. Prepare equipment capital justifications to support both existing and new manufacturing processes.
  9. Collaborate with the Current Product Engineering team on modifications and tooling for existing products.
  10. Inspect work and assist in resolving issues related to production components.
  11. Generate and assess prints and drawings to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  12. Establish standards for welding and wiring processes.
  13. Maintain accurate documentation, including Bills of Materials optimized for production.
  14. Contribute to team efforts by actively participating in team discussions.
  15. Enhance professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and involvement in professional organizations.
  16. Manage programming for CNC machinery.
Additional Duties:
  1. Work alongside the Current Product Engineering team to ensure the manufacturability of new designs.
  2. Engage in special projects or tasks as assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications and Skills: To excel in this role, candidates must effectively perform each essential function. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
  1. A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not mandatory.
  2. Three to five years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is generally required.
  3. A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey detailed information clearly to colleagues, management, vendors, suppliers, and clients.
  5. Excellent customer service abilities, fostering positive and professional relationships with colleagues, management, vendors, suppliers, and clients.
  6. Capability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, procedure manuals, and schematics (blueprints).
  7. Aptitude for writing routine reports and business correspondence.
  8. Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and understand proportions and percentages.
  9. Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  10. Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  11. Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  12. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  13. Visionary thinking to comprehend the entire manufacturing process.
  14. Proficiency in using computers and software, including Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, CAD, and MRP systems.
  15. Ability to operate various department equipment such as forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and office equipment.
  16. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

  2. The work environment is primarily indoors with frequent exposure to outdoor elements. The noise level is often high, and employees may occasionally encounter dust, dirt, fumes, odors, mechanical and electrical hazards, fire hazards, and elevated workspaces. This position may require infrequent travel, which could involve exposure to extreme weather conditions.
