About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the New York Genome Center. The successful candidate will work closely with our research group, led by Dr. Gamze Gursoy, to develop computational and experimental tools for addressing complex questions in genomics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement novel statistical inference tools integrating genetics and her data to investigate disease mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with the Neuropsychiatric Disease (NPD) Research group to develop multimodal inference tools for better understanding neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Work closely with the PI and NPD research group to curate research programs and develop fellowship and grant applications.
  • Interface regularly with collaborators inside and outside of NYGC and Columbia University.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Genetics, Epidemiology, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, and R.
  • Background in statistical genetics, machine learning, and/or neuroscience is preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, along with a high degree of independence and flexibility.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary of $88,000 per year, including a $70,000 base pay and a $1,500 per month taxable postdoctoral housing allowance.
