We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the New York Genome Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading innovative research in statistical and functional genomics, with a focus on understanding the genetic underpinnings of psychiatric disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply new statistical and computational methods for analyzing large-scale genetic and functional data.
- Implement and document these methods using robust programming tools and practices.
- Lead research projects from start to finish, working closely with computational and clinical colleagues.
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to academic journals and present research at internal meetings and conferences.
- Participate in lab activities, assist in mentoring junior team members, and share expertise with group members.
- Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Genetics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, including Python, Java, C/C++, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in R/RStudio and relevant statistical packages for data visualization and analysis.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux platforms and familiarity with analyzing high-throughput genetic data.
- Ability to work closely with other scientists to productionize and scale new data analysis methods and workflows.
- Technical and Professional Skills: Consistently demonstrates skills and knowledge relevant to the current role.
- Collaborative & Communicative: Models collaboration and teamwork, effectively working with all levels, internally and externally.

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will meet with Dr. Singh and interact with researchers at NYGC, Columbia University's Department of Psychiatry, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. They will participate in group meetings and access resources for professional advancement and skill development.
Salary and BenefitsThe pay for this position is $88,000 per year, including a $70,000 base pay and a $1,500 per month taxable postdoctoral housing allowance. The position also includes a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, as well as generous time off.
Work FlexibilityNYGC has established a flexible work policy to allow employees to balance work, personal commitments, and commuting challenges. The incumbent in this position is eligible for a flexible work schedule or hybrid remote work arrangement with supervisory approval.
