Lanesra Technical Recruitment Ltd is representing a leading Tier 1 Design & Build Contractor specializing in the water sector, tasked with executing a substantial portion of South West Water's clean and wastewater non-infrastructure initiatives.

We are seeking a Project Director for a pivotal Desalination Plant project in Cornwall. This role encompasses the comprehensive oversight, coordination, execution, and successful completion of the project, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy by effectively planning and assessing project activities, adhering to timelines, and maintaining budgetary constraints while prioritizing health and safety and fostering customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:
Uphold exemplary safety and quality delivery standards for both direct and subcontracted teams.

Ensure the implementation of the Business Management System (BMS) throughout all phases of project delivery, from tender handover to final completion.

Foster strong client relationships at all levels.
Safeguard the company’s reputation by maintaining positive interactions with joint venture partners and suppliers.
Guarantee the availability of adequately trained personnel for the project, ensuring clarity of individual responsibilities.

Plan projects meticulously, including the review and approval of the Project Execution Plan (PEP), while monitoring and controlling project delivery.

Ensure that detailed construction plans and method statements are prepared, approved, and in place prior to the initiation of activities.

Confirm that all records referenced in the PEP are complete and accessible upon contract completion.
Report all site non-conformities and identify approximate costs.

Manage all commercial aspects of the project proactively, providing accurate forecasts and estimates.

Understand and implement Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and Targets.
Recognize the importance of satisfying customer requirements to enhance their perception and satisfaction.

Maintain a practical understanding of all technical disciplines related to delivering water and wastewater design and build projects.

Possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in project management practices from initial scheme conception to end-user acceptance.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Proven project management experience in overseeing multi-disciplinary design and construction projects, preferably within the water sector.
A degree or equivalent qualification in a construction, commercial, or engineering-related field.
Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and end users.

Demonstrated delivery-driven mindset with the capability to set targets and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to achieve time, cost, and quality objectives.

Extensive experience in project delivery.
Strategic, operational, technical, and managerial competencies.
Familiarity with Construction Contracts, ideally NEC and/or IChemE, with the ability to negotiate and manage.
Capacity to present at Governance Reviews in a leadership role.
Experience in Risk & Opportunity Management.
Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach to work, providing transparent and constructive feedback.
Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety regulations.
Experience in water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Chartered status with an engineering, commercial, or construction institution.
