The Student Supports Manager role within the School-Based SEL & Behavioral Health Team is essential for the implementation of the integrated student services program at Communities In Schools of Chicago. This position is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment in Chicago Public Schools by providing comprehensive services that focus on prevention, education, and enrichment, alongside tailored support for individual students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver personalized case management for a cohort of 50 students across elementary, middle, or high school levels, addressing challenges related to academic performance, behavioral issues, and attendance, while contributing to broader school climate initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with educational staff and community stakeholders to identify and mitigate student barriers, including active participation in the school’s Behavioral Health Team or similar committees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student case files, ensuring timely documentation and case notes.
  • Leverage the extensive array of support services and community resources offered by the Partnerships Team.
  • Engage in regular meetings with team members, organizational staff, and clinical teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Assist with various organizational projects and activities as required.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proven experience in providing both individual and group interventions for school-aged children.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence in working with diverse populations, respecting varying value systems, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Ability to represent the organization through site visits, public speaking engagements, community events, and occasional media interactions.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with experience in database management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling is preferred, with licensure or eligibility being advantageous.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with adolescents and their families within urban public school settings is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
  • A background check and verification of previous employment and educational credentials are mandatory; candidates must not be listed on the CPS 'Do Not Hire' registry.
