Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate management and reporting of the location's finances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all cash handling procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts to identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Analyze financial results for both internal and external use to inform business decisions
  • Track and maintain monthly P/L and balance sheet activity to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Develop forecasts and budgets to identify risks and opportunities for growth
  • Review and analyze general ledger and balance sheet to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Resolve various accounting and reconciliation issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Maintain inventory and cost control procedures to ensure accurate tracking and reporting
  • Administer payroll and human resources functions to ensure compliance and accuracy

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience with revenue control, financial reporting, and cash handling responsibilities, with at least 3 years in a similar capacity
  • Accounting experience in foodservice or retail industry required, with foodservice operations experience a plus
  • Experience with sales analysis and reporting to inform business decisions
  • Adept at planning, organizing, and controlling complex processes, as well as analyzing moderately complex financial information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a concentration in Excel, and experience with POS systems a plus
