Sleep Study Technician

Position Overview:
Summit Sleep Services is on the lookout for a skilled Sleep Study Technician. As a premier facility accredited by the AASM - American Academy of Sleep Medicine, we offer a PRN role that is vital to our mission of diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct necessary calibrations and maintenance on polysomnographic equipment to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot any issues.
- Gather, assess, and synthesize patient data to tailor testing parameters in collaboration with the referring physician or clinical director, adhering to sleep lab protocols.
- Complete pre-study and post-study documentation to ensure comprehensive patient records.
- Familiarize patients with the sleep lab environment and explain testing procedures, allowing time for inquiries.
- Prepare patients for testing by reviewing charts, documenting findings, analyzing sleep study data, and managing setup and cleanup processes.
- Independently apply monitoring electrodes and devices on multiple patients per night, ensuring quality checks are performed prior to recording.
- Adhere to procedural protocols for various types of polysomnographic studies to guarantee accurate data collection.
- Monitor and document study-tracing quality during data acquisition, making necessary adjustments to maintain signal integrity.
- Record routine technical observations throughout the study, including sleep stages and significant clinical events, to assist in scoring and interpreting results.
- Implement necessary interventions to ensure patient safety and data integrity, including therapeutic measures and technical quality checks.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisory staff.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of an accredited polysomnography technical program or equivalent on-the-job training. Current certification by the BRPT is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in sleep medicine is advantageous; candidates from diverse medical backgrounds may be considered for on-the-job training.
Certification/License: Must possess a valid license as a Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGP) in the state of Tennessee. Current CPR or BCLS certification is required.
