Development Manager Opportunity

Macdonald & Company is pleased to be partnering with a leading multifamily and mixed-use developer in Texas to find a skilled Development Manager to join their team in Austin. This role will focus on executing a significant pipeline of deals and requires a strong leader with expertise in real estate development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the day-to-day development efforts for assigned projects, taking ownership of all aspects of the development process.
  • Coordinate and manage project consultants, including architects, engineers, and procurement of governmental permits and approvals.
  • Drive project schedules and collaborate with internal stakeholders on design decisions, project capitalization strategy, and construction execution approach.
  • Manage proforma-based development budgets, track expenditures, and ensure payments accurately reflect completed work.
  • Understand and manage the process and related fees to obtain governmental and regulatory approvals.
  • Lead OAC meetings to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Management team to understand construction cost estimates and explore cost-effective alternatives.
  • Attend construction OAC meetings and work with the CM team to ensure project schedule and budget are maintained.
  • Represent the group Development team throughout the asset's lifecycle, ensuring effective and efficient internal and external communication.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate or MBA degree in real estate, finance, business, engineering, architecture, or construction management, or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of managing the day-to-day real estate development process, with experience in multifamily projects preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of responsibilities with attention to detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
  • Must take initiative, be independently resourceful, prioritize time, and perform within a team setting while maintaining focus and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of software platforms such as Bluebeam, Procore, Rabbet, and MS Project is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong intellectual curiosity, tenacity, and advanced emotional intelligence.
  • Must be willing to travel on a frequent basis.
