Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller Assistant to join our team at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP.

The Role:

You will report to the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer and assist with matters including:

  • Management of all accounting operations: Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll
  • Preparation of the budget and financial forecasts: Analyze financial data to create accurate forecasts and budgets
  • Management of cash flow planning process: Develop and implement cash flow management strategies to ensure financial stability
  • Review and preparation of year-end workpapers: Collaborate with external accountants to review financial statements and prepare income tax returns
  • Review and ensure application of internal controls: Develop and document business processes to ensure compliance with financial procedures and regulations
  • Oversight of software platforms: Provide critical and timely financial and operational information using software platforms
  • Accounts Receivable management: Manage and collect accounts receivable to ensure timely payment
  • Support month-end and year-end close process: Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Research technical accounting and tax issues: Stay up-to-date with technical accounting and tax issues to ensure compliance

Skills Needed for Success:

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and tax principles: Stay up-to-date with accounting and tax regulations and laws
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills: Analyze and manipulate financial data using Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of combined accounting, finance, and tax experience: Proven experience in accounting, finance, and tax
  • CPA license: Certified Public Accountant license
  • Experience:
    • Financial statement preparation: Prepare financial statements for various types of legal entities
    • General ledger functions: Manage and maintain general ledger accounts
    • Month-end/year-end close process: Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports
    • Preparing and review of partnership and payroll tax filings: Prepare and review tax filings for partnerships and payroll
    • Various accounting software administration: Manage and maintain accounting software
    • Experience with professional service organizations: Experience working with professional service organizations is preferred

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annual
