Job ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of components and assemblies utilizing Creo, along with generating drawings with GD&T for high-performance wafer positioning and motion stages, as well as associated tooling.
The role involves conducting design reviews, procuring prototypes, collaborating with vendors, and overseeing prototype testing, system integration, stage servo tuning, and transition to manufacturing.
The engineer will be tasked with testing and qualifying stages to ensure compliance with performance and reliability standards. Responsibilities also include performing analyses and simulations, such as structural, thermal, and vibration/modal finite element analyses (FEAs), as well as motor current, voltage, and power calculations.Additionally, the engineer will create documentation and procedures for the manufacturing and assembly of various systems, while collaborating with other engineering teams, including controls engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration and performance optimization.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of experience in mechanical design and solid modeling
- Proficiency in Creo, Solidworks, or similar 3D modeling software
- Expertise in structural, thermal, and vibration/modal FEA
- Experience in design for manufacturability (DFM) with machining, sheet metals, and castings
- Familiarity with analysis tools such as Python or Matlab
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with various types of rotary bearings, linear guides, and/or air bearings
- Design experience with X,Y sub-micron positioning stages
- Background in vibration optimization and design for high stiffness-to-weight ratios
- Experience in vibration and modal testing using accelerometers and impact hammers
- Design experience in semiconductor capital equipment
Minimum Education Requirements:
Doctorate (Academic) Degree with no related work experience; Master's Level Degree with three years of related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree with five years of related work experience.
