Job Title: Associate Head Coach, Women's Volleyball

Job Summary:

The Associate Head Coach, Women's Volleyball is a key member of the Merrimack College Athletics department, responsible for assisting the Director of Volleyball in all aspects of running a NCAA Division I women's volleyball program. This includes recruiting academically qualified prospective student-athletes, developing and implementing training sessions, practices, and game plans, educating and coaching student-athletes, and supporting their personal, academic, and athletic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit quality student-athletes to meet specified enrollment goals, evaluating talent, visiting/communicating with prospective student-athletes and parents/guardians, planning on-campus visits, and completing necessary forms and communication with the athletic compliance office.
  • Determine athletic scholarship allocation for prospective student-athletes, working within requirements set and communicated by athletic administration.
  • Organize, plan, and conduct effective and efficient team practices and individual skill instruction sessions, demonstrating the ability to teach and instruct the sport of volleyball.
  • Prepare individual players and the team for competition, utilizing video and technology to teach, improve, and develop players.
  • Participate in the development of the whole student-athlete, athletically, academically, and personally, regarding individual well-being and life skills.
  • Scout opposing teams and assist in the breakdown of game film for teaching purposes.
  • Conduct coaching and student-athlete meetings.
  • Help monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 1-2 years of previous women's volleyball coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics.
  • Demonstrated recruiting skills and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of video editing and production.
  • Commitment to supporting the academic success and overall well-being of student-athletes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines.
