POSITION SUMMARY

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Transit Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

General Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the construction, renovation, and repair activities of a skilled trades team. The supervisor operates under general guidance, independently determining work methods and sequences.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires four (4) years of journey-level experience in the relevant field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Certifications and Licenses
Must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's License. A valid Florida Class A/B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air brake and Passenger Endorsement must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment.

Essential Requirements
Ability to work shifts in a 24/7 operation as assigned (days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays). Must be able to report to various work locations as necessary. This role involves manual labor, requiring the ability to carry, push, or pull up to 25 lbs or more, and to stand, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, and walk in diverse environmental conditions for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Building Management or Bachelor's Degree
  • Class A/B Operator Underground Storage Tank Certification
  • OSHA Standard 29 CFR Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift Compliance)
  • 2+ years of experience with Time and Attendance software (Kronos or similar)
  • 2+ years of experience with Maintenance Management Software (Asset Works, Spear, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in the repair of Mechanical, Hydraulics, and Electrical Systems
  • 2+ years of experience in Facilities Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Repairs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following functions represent the majority of the time spent in this role. Management may assign additional functions as necessary.

- Prioritizes staff assignments, plans, and implements work projects and methods; oversees the procurement of materials and supplies; determines equipment needs for various projects; performs and supervises equipment maintenance.

- Identifies safety hazards and implements necessary corrections; inspects facilities for required repairs and maintenance.

- Plans, assigns, and supervises trades staff, equipment operators, and maintenance personnel engaged in various trades including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry, and more; inspects ongoing and completed jobs.

- Manages the requisition of parts and supplies, checks and orders stock and repair parts; oversees heavy equipment fleet management; repairs, replaces, diagnoses, and troubleshoots related equipment and machinery.

- Collaborates with other agencies within Broward County.

- Assumes the duties of a superior when necessary.

- Handles personnel matters including attendance, hiring, payroll functions, and monitoring assigned budgets.

- Inputs data and work logs into computer systems; communicates maintenance issues with peers and upper management; attends relevant meetings.

- Performs related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands
Involves performing light work that includes walking or standing most of the time and exerting up to 25 pounds or more of force regularly.
