The Inpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing a designated area within the pharmacy department, ensuring that all operations align with the medical center's standards and practices. This role requires a deep understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients and a commitment to maintaining a safe and effective medication management environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise clinical pharmacy services across medical and surgical units.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation and professional standards. Conduct regular assessments to maintain adherence to medical center policies.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the unit, including budget preparation, cost management, and revenue optimization. Implement strategies to control drug expenses while meeting budgetary goals.
  • Collaborate in the development of operational plans that align with departmental and organizational objectives. Identify opportunities for enhancing clinical services and implement innovative programs.
  • Provide leadership in daily operations, addressing and resolving inpatient operational challenges. Foster a positive work environment through effective leadership and participation in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a customer-focused approach by modeling exemplary customer relations and collaborating with nursing and physician leadership to enhance patient experiences.
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow. Assist in evaluating staffing needs and reviewing schedules prior to publication.
  • Guide and mentor assigned staff, identifying their professional development goals and providing necessary training and support.
  • Act as a preceptor for pharmacy students, interns, residents, and technicians during their rotations.
  • Perform the duties of a staff pharmacist as required, ensuring comprehensive support for the pharmacy team.

Flexible work-from-home options are available after the completion of training.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent experience is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • California Pharmacist License required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Desired Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient pharmacy or pharmacy management.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, walk, bend, and reach frequently; occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Responsive to auditory alarms and communication devices.
  • Mobility to access equipment and patients effectively.
  • Able to read medication labels accurately.
