The Inpatient Pharmacy Specialist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is tasked with overseeing and coordinating medication management operations throughout the medical facility. This includes, but is not limited to, delivering clinical services and managing drug distribution, along with other responsibilities as assigned.

This role is structured as a full-time position, requiring an 8-hour shift with rotating schedules from Monday to Friday.


QualificationsEducational Background:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or an equivalent qualification from an accredited pharmacy institution.
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or comparable practical experience.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
  • Active pharmacist license in the State of California.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as specified in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure.
Additional Skills and Attributes:
  • Preferred completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience.
  • Thorough understanding of medical terminology related to pharmacotherapy.
  • In-depth knowledge of prevalent disease states and their pathophysiology.
  • Ability to interpret patient management plans effectively.
  • Capability to assess and apply current pharmacological principles for drug selection and usage in clinical environments.
  • Skill in extracting relevant information from patients or other sources to inform care plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills essential for fulfilling pharmacist responsibilities.
  • Ability to educate and serve as a mentor for training initiatives.
  • Competence in preparing medications for immediate use.
  • Ability to provide recommendations and monitor pharmacotherapy.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practice laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Adaptability to change and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Capability to evaluate medication regimens to meet patient therapeutic needs.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to automated information systems in daily operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations, compounding, and pharmacokinetics.
  • Possess patient-centered communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills necessary for job functions.
  • Exceptions may be approved by the Chief Pharmacy Officer or designated representative.
