LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE - FORENSIC NORTH CAMPUS

Gracepoint is in search of dedicated and empathetic professionals who aspire to make a significant impact in the lives of others.

The Forensics Treatment Program at the North Campus operates as a 24/7 secured residential facility, catering to adults aged 18 and older who are part of a court-mandated program. Residents typically present with mental health diagnoses alongside felony charges, yet are recognized as Incompetent to Stand Trial.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves delivering direct nursing care to individuals with behavioral health challenges, grounded in a comprehensive body of nursing knowledge. You will supervise the care provided by Behavioral Health Technicians and apply the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, identification of nursing issues, planning, execution, evaluation, and modification of nursing interventions based on patient outcomes. You will also coordinate and implement diagnostic and therapeutic orders while ensuring patient safety through the proper administration of medications, prevention of aggressive behavior, injury, and infection control. As a vital member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, you will engage in Quality Improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse program with a preference for candidates with one year of experience. A current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida is required. Candidates should possess the ability to effectively communicate information and respond to inquiries from managers, patients, families, and colleagues. Problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the capacity to manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. The ability to multitask, demonstrate decision-making and critical thinking skills, along with basic computer proficiency, is also necessary.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assess the physiological, psychosocial, and environmental needs of patients and report findings to the Registered Nurse.
  • Implement care plans in accordance with nursing standards and practices.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions outlined in the care plan.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate documentation, subject to approval by a Registered Nurse.
  • Exhibit competency in critical thinking and decision-making, involving a Registered Nurse when necessary.
  • Oversee staff and the continuous workflow of the program.
  • Share professional and technical expertise while adhering to established policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to reach, bend, talk, use fingers, sit, carry, stand, grasp, and coordinate fine motor skills. Must be able to hear, read, write, and maintain composure under stress.
  • Capability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of dead weight independently.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods.
