Position Overview

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Internal Medicine, you will operate under the direct oversight of a physician, playing a vital role in supporting healthcare teams, including staff, providers, residents, and medical students, in delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in patient care and perform clerical and organizational tasks through a collaborative team approach.
  • Provide essential information to patients, ensuring they can fully engage with and benefit from the healthcare services available.
  • May specialize in specific medical fields such as surgery, cardiology, or neurology, or provide support across various specialties as needed.
  • Work closely with supervisors to ensure all responsibilities are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Assess patients' physical conditions, including vital signs and nursing needs, and assist providers in formulating comprehensive care plans for effective patient visits.
  • Conduct patient care activities, including phlebotomy and EKGs, in accordance with the clinical scope of practice for LPNs to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in exam rooms, ensuring that equipment is functional and rooms are adequately stocked for subsequent patients.
  • Complete necessary pre-visit and post-visit documentation to maintain thorough patient records and ensure continuity of care.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies to guarantee that exam areas are fully equipped and operational.
  • Engage in care team meetings to ensure collaborative and comprehensive care is provided to each patient during their visits.
  • Uphold patient experience and safety by adhering to all emergency clinical policies and protocols, fostering an optimal care environment.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a clinical setting within a healthcare facility.
  • Proven competency in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Current State Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Training Program.
