Job Description:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services seeks a highly experienced and skilled professional to serve as the Director of Data Analytics and Systems Improvement. This senior-level position reports directly to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner and is responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance in data-driven decision making and systems improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-range and short-term plans to improve data quality, accuracy, and timeliness, as well as enhance data-driven decision making across the agency.
  • Data Governance: Establish and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data consistency, integrity, and security.
  • Business Intelligence: Design, develop, and implement business intelligence solutions to support data-driven decision making, including data visualization, reporting, and analytics.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of data-driven services.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with agency stakeholders, including executive leadership, program areas, and external partners, to ensure data-driven decision making and systems improvement initiatives align with agency goals and objectives.
  • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and management to a team of data analysts and systems improvement specialists, including hiring, training, and performance management.

Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in a related field, such as business administration, public administration, or computer science.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or systems improvement, with a strong background in data governance, business intelligence, and process improvement.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI, and experience with data governance frameworks, such as ISO 38500 or COBIT.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, with a standard work schedule of 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, program areas, and external partners.
