Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Division Data Analyst to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our Infectious Disease Prevention Division, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting complex data to inform public health policy and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Conduct advanced data analysis using statistical techniques and programming languages such as SQL, R, and Python to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Data Quality and Integrity: Assess data quality, identify inconsistencies and errors, and collaborate with internal groups to improve data quality and collection systems.
  • Visualization and Reporting: Develop and implement data visualization tools and reports to communicate complex data insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Engage with diverse stakeholders, including hospital administrators, state and national organizations, to build relationships and devise creative solutions for analytic projects.
Requirements
  • Advanced Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in statistical programming languages (SQL, R, Python, SAS) and professional data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS, Shiny, Dash).
  • Strong Understanding: Strong understanding of statistical modeling and causal inference, as well as comprehensive knowledge of measurement, testing, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Applying statistical measurement techniques and research design, managing complex projects with multiple activities and deadlines, technical writing and clear communication of research findings, creating intuitive data dashboards for diverse audiences, and developing analytic pipelines using relational databases.
Working Environment

This position operates under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, communicate complex data insights to diverse stakeholders, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
