Job Summary

Washington Trust Bank is seeking a highly skilled Regional Credit Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial Division, you will be responsible for managing the credit risk inherent in our regional loan portfolio, ensuring that it is aligned with established parameters set by our Chief Credit Officer, Credit Policy Committee, and Commercial Division leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loan Portfolio Management: Develop and implement controls and procedures to ensure the quality of our regional loan portfolio, maintaining and interpreting written loan policy and procedures for all bank loans.
  • Credit Risk Assessment: Develop and implement procedures for early detection and monitoring of potential problem credits and potentially adverse credit granting and administrative practices and behavior, taking appropriate steps to ensure corrective action is taken by team leaders and lending officers.
  • Senior Credit Approval: Serve as the most senior level credit approval authority for the region, approving credit accommodations within lending authority and recommending larger commitments to the appropriate level of approval.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with team leaders and lending officers in the analysis, structuring, and pricing of more difficult credit requests, ensuring adherence to credit policies and rate guidelines to meet loan quality and profitability standards.
  • Business Development: Participate in the relationship team's business development activities, conducting customer and prospect calls to enhance existing relationships and attract new customers.
  • Training and Development: Provide training programs and materials to improve loan officer analytical and loan management skills, providing regular communications to keep loan officers abreast of current topics in Credit Administration.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned, ensuring that updates to internal controls documentation are performed timely when there are changes in risk parameters and/or workflow.
Requirements
  • Education: College degree in Business Administration, with a preferred emphasis in finance, accounting, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible banking experience, specifically including credit administration, loan workout, and loan production experience.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a realistic approach to problem-solving and a high degree of common sense. Demonstrated ability to quickly focus on key issues and make decisions under pressure of time constraints and/or incomplete information.
  • Leadership: Well-developed 'people skills' to efficiently manage and direct the individuals reporting to this position and influence the behavior of those that do not.
  • Communication: Strong communications and negotiating skills, both written and oral, with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision and self-direct.
