Sales Vice President Job Description
At Scholastic, we are seeking a highly skilled Sales Vice President to lead our sales team and drive business growth. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in sales leadership, with a strong ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans that align with the company's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive sales strategies that drive business growth and market leadership.
- Provide inspirational leadership to the sales team, delivering consistent guidance and support to ensure high achievement and continuous improvement.
- Set ambitious sales goals and construct a performance culture focused on surpassing these targets through strategic action and relentless execution.
- Foster strong collaborations with marketing, product development, and other critical functions to ensure sales strategies are fully integrated with company-wide initiatives.
- Interpret complex sales data and market insights to inform and adapt the sales strategy to capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Strategically lead sales-related fiscal planning and expenditure to ensure resources are optimally allocated and managed to support strategic goals and sales effectiveness.
- Evaluate and hone sales processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure the sales force is operating at peak efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Deep understanding of sales operations, including pipeline management strategies, forecasting methods, and the customer lifecycle.
- Data-driven decision-making approach, underpinned by comprehensive business and financial savvy.

- Advanced strategic thinking with the ability to develop and implement creative sales strategies that sync with and enhance overarching company visions and goals.

- Proficiency in the application of state-of-the-art sales management software suites and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
- Superior analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the competence to translate sales data analysis into actionable strategic planning and execution.
Qualifications:
- Proven efficacy in working in a cooperative, integrated fashion with multiple departments to bolster and ensure the achievement of sales performance objectives and broader company goals.
- Demonstrated experience in transforming sales operations within a legacy structure, embedding innovative sales techniques, technologies, and methodologies to augment sales operational prowess.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership in sales, including a documented history of conceptualizing and executing strategies that significantly exceed sales performance metrics.
Education:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with advanced degrees.
