Job Overview

OBJECTIVE:
The primary goal is to oversee a regional team comprising procurement, sales, and marketing professionals, dedicated to achieving overall profit and loss objectives at both volume and variable margin levels. The Director will take charge of the relationship with suppliers and customers through their team, fostering significant partnerships to drive innovative growth while safeguarding existing business. This role entails leading a cross-functional team and being accountable for formulating and executing the Feed Ingredient Procurement strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish and nurture supplier partnerships and key accounts to ensure enduring relationships from acquisition through to consumption.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing cross-functional team, including procurement, direct sales, and marketing, alongside other related departments such as technology, supply chain, regulatory, product management, and customer communications.
  • Achieve volume and margin targets within profit and loss statements; accelerate regional growth beyond industry averages in targeted segments; enhance market penetration and share.
  • Provide precise and comprehensive sales and budget forecasts.
  • Engage in relevant marketing activities such as seminars, trade exhibitions, and virtual meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (sales, marketing operations, supply chain, research, and finance) to optimize sustainable business expansion.
  • Develop comprehensive account strategies with key innovators and deliver relationship frameworks to influence purchasing decisions; promote the growth of specialty additives.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, including new products, applications, and competitive dynamics; effectively relay key insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Design and implement market activation strategies in partnership with internal teams.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages supervisory duties within the Nutrition department, adhering to all policies and legal requirements.

Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, and training personnel; planning, assigning, and directing tasks; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing grievances and resolving issues.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline (Food Science, Nutrition Science) is required; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.

Experience:
5-10 years of relevant experience in the food, feed, and/or ingredients sector.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office-based setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills, with the capability to manage cross-functional teams. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment while positively influencing others. Demonstrates awareness and application of best sales practices, with a high degree of self-motivation and leadership capabilities. Strong organizational skills are essential. Must possess a solid blend of strategic planning, decision-making, and execution skills. Extensive marketing experience with the ability to craft and deliver presentations to diverse audiences. Capacity to cultivate and sustain robust business relationships with manufacturers, nutritionists, producers, feed mills, distributors, and other key industry stakeholders. Proficiency in negotiating and securing new business opportunities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional domestic travel may be necessary (estimated at 10-20%).
