Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Budget Manager to join our team in the Office of Financial Management (OFM). As a key member of our budget services division, you will be responsible for managing the budget team and providing guidance on financial operations, business processes, and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the budget team and provide daily supervision and management of professional staff in budget development, execution, and monitoring.
  • Interpret legislation, statutory requirements, policies, and procedures related to financial operations and budgeting.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of the agency budget, including internal work unit budgets, budget reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Evaluate compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial management systems and processes to ensure effective and efficient budgeting and financial operations.
Requirements
  • Ability to supervise professional staff and manage budget teams.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of program budgeting, governmental, and federal budgeting and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret a variety of documents, develop solutions, and present recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products and various statewide programs.
  • Considerable progressive experience within a complex state budgeting system.
