Position Overview

As a Cost Estimator, you will play a crucial role in delivering accurate project estimates, assessing bid specifications, and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to secure successful bids and project achievements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate precise quantitative and cost estimates for construction projects by thoroughly analyzing project drawings, specifications, and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Comprehend contract terminology, obligations, client expectations, and project scope.
  • Engage with architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and refine estimates, implement effective cost-saving measures, and address constructability challenges.
  • Disseminate and coordinate plans, specifications, and information, ensuring all requirements are appropriately managed.
  • Select and oversee subcontractors throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Evaluate the cost efficiency of products, projects, or services, monitor actual costs against bids as the project progresses, and compare with historical pricing and internal assessments.
  • Create scope sheets for bid leveling.
  • Act as the intermediary between all contracted parties involved in a project.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Construction from an accredited institution is preferred; equivalent on-the-job experience and/or formal education may be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial construction project estimating.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (such as Procore), estimating software (like Timberline, Destini), and BlueBeam.
