Overview

The Construction Equipment Specialist is tasked with the safe and proficient operation of various heavy machinery, including but not limited to Motor Graders, Dozers, Excavators, Backhoes, Compaction Equipment, Scrapers, and Wheel Loaders, to ensure the successful and safe execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely maneuver heavy machinery to excavate, transport, load, and grade earth, rock, gravel, and other materials.
  • Engage in a variety of tasks such as road construction, fine grading, finishing, sloping, banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, stockpiling, maintaining road surfaces, constructing and upkeeping road berms, loading trucks, and trenching.
  • Operate heavy machinery in compliance with the company's safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure that equipment operation remains within its designated capabilities and limitations.
  • Conduct necessary safety inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and secure job site.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience
  • Previous experience operating heavy machinery in a construction setting is required.
  • Familiarity with earthwork and road construction is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to operate machinery with precision and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).
  • Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to function in a safety-sensitive construction environment, with exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with a team in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Physical ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined or awkward spaces.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination, with the ability to grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
