Role Overview

  • Position: Technical Artist
  • Summary: The Technical Artist acts as a bridge between our creative and engineering teams, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our content workflows. This role primarily involves creating tools, scripts, and plugins to facilitate the integration of art assets into the Unity engine, while also optimizing workflows related to animation, character rigging, shaders, and UI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Art Leads, Engineers, Animators, VFX, and UI artists to refine workflows and processes.
  • Design and implement tools, scripts, and plugins to streamline the integration of art assets into the Unity environment.
  • Establish animation controllers, state machines, triggers, events, and timeline sequences.
  • Proactively troubleshoot issues, analyze performance metrics, and conduct optimizations.
  • Assist the art team and designers by creating tools and processes for prototyping new concepts.
  • Investigate and develop innovative tools and technologies.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent expertise.
  • Extensive experience with Unity and a solid understanding of its framework.
  • Proficient in high-level coding and scripting languages (C#, Python, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with industry-standard DCC tools (Max, Maya, ZBrush, Substance, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Demonstrated understanding of 3D development, including modeling, texturing, materials, lighting, rendering, VFX, and UI workflows.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for creating tools that empower fellow creatives.
  • Customer-oriented approach, recognizing the importance of supporting team members in delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Experience with mobile gaming pipelines and managing technical considerations such as poly counts and texture memory.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Perforce and automation environments like Jenkins.

Compensation

  • Base salary typically ranges from $102,000 to $120,000, with a total range of $102,000 to $152,000. The final salary is determined based on individual qualifications and experience.
