Job Summary

As a Monitor Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by performing arrhythmia or ECG monitor observations and communicating changes to the nursing staff. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiac rhythms and the ability to interpret and validate computer readouts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe cardiac rhythms of patients on monitor and run and post rhythm strips at designated intervals.
  • Interpret rhythms and validate computer readouts, ensuring accurate and timely communication of changes to nursing staff.
  • Check and verify lead placement on patients, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Compare posted strips to previous strips and notify nursing staff of any changes or abnormalities.
  • Recognize and respond to unusual or abnormal patient conditions, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain equipment in operating order, performing routine cleaning and maintenance as needed.
  • Assist providers with access to cardiac monitor reports and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Formal EKG or arrhythmia class with a minimum of 20 hours.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Able to organize and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous monitor observer experience.
