As a Simulation and Modeling Development Engineer II, you'll be part of a team that's developing reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion.

This role is part of the New Shepard program, a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive Technical Development: Contribute to the full life-cycle technical development of physics-based simulation models and configuration management of the New Shepard Training Simulator.
  • Collaborate with Team Leads: Work with team leads to manage scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Support Multi-Functional Systems Analysis: Collaborate with teams to drive architectural decisions through multi-functional systems analysis.
  • Take Ownership of Long-Term Goals: Take ownership of long-term goals of the Training Simulator, ensuring its continued relevance and effectiveness.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while contributing to innovative solutions and demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. The candidate must be willing to take ownership and support mission-critical software used to train Launch Crews. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree: An advanced degree in an Engineering-related field.
  • Proven Experience: 3+ years of proven experience in physics-based simulation modeling.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise with MATLAB, Simulink, and autocode generation and verification, as well as comfort with programming languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Cultural Fit: Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Estimated Salary: $109,980.00-$153,972.00
