Role and Development Opportunities:
The Bridge Inspection Support Specialist is integral to performing safety evaluations on bridges and other structures, ensuring compliance with NBIS and PennDOT Pub 238 standards. This role involves close collaboration with Team Leaders and fellow Assistants to guarantee that inspections are executed with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute inspections in accordance with NBIS and Pub 238 protocols.
- Detect deficiencies, evaluate conditions, and accurately document structures using i-forms.
- Keep comprehensive records of structural conditions through i-forms and BMS2.
- Utilize hand tools to extract defective materials for detailed assessment of structural elements.
- Access hard-to-reach areas of structures employing ladders, hydraulic lifts, and under-bridge cranes.
- Apply measuring instruments and non-destructive testing techniques.
- Produce preliminary technical inspection reports based on field data collected via i-forms.
- Advise on maintenance needs derived from inspection results.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience: Ranging from zero (0) to two (2)+ years of experience in bridge inspection.
- Licensure/Certification: CBSI certification or eligibility to obtain such certification.
