POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Associate Director or designated personnel, the Grants Management Specialist plays a vital role in supporting principal investigators, administrative staff, and various stakeholders. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely preparation and submission of essential documentation for institutional endorsement of grant applications while complying with diverse regulatory frameworks.

This opportunity encompasses various levels of Grants Management Specialist - candidates will be selected based on their qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

Grants Management Specialist I:

  • Oversee a standard portfolio of projects throughout the grant lifecycle from inception to completion.
  • Examine and validate sponsor and institutional forms for submissions.
  • Evaluate award documentation and suggest modifications to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
  • Facilitate negotiations for sub-awards, assess sub-recipient status, and uphold research compliance.
  • Collaborate on account establishment, monitor awards, and report on project activities.
  • Communicate policy updates and ensure compliance within the organization.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Grants Management Specialist II:

  • Manage intricate project portfolios for prominent departments.
  • Create training resources, assess processes, and propose enhancements.
  • Guarantee research compliance and maintain the accuracy of institutional records.

Senior Grants Management Specialist:

  • Oversee complex projects for key departments and assist with special initiatives.
  • Assess operational procedures, engage in inspections and audits.
  • Review submissions for precision, communicate policy updates, and recommend compliance strategies.

Team Lead Grants Management Specialist:

Leadership:

  • Supervise a team of Grants Management Specialists, evaluate performance, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Encourage team growth through mentorship and improve internal processes.
  • Organize educational sessions on research-related topics and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.

Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee substantial project portfolios and represent the institution effectively.
  • Negotiate agreements, develop training materials, and offer guidance.
  • Participate in audits, system enhancements, mentorship, and compliance efforts.
  • Ensure the accuracy of proposals and adherence to research compliance.

Qualifications:

Grants Management Specialist I:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Research Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in business-oriented roles and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective time management abilities.
  • Experience in higher education research administration is preferred.

Grants Management Specialist II:

  • Requirements of Specialist I, plus 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Certification in Research Administration is preferred.

Senior Grants Management Specialist:

  • Requirements of Specialist I, plus 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage high-risk research portfolios.
  • Professional Certification or Master's Degree in Research Administration is preferred.
  • Knowledge of grant policies and regulations is essential.

Team Lead Grants Management Specialist:

  • Requirements as stated, plus 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with grant management systems is advantageous.
