Level III:

Depending on qualifications and experience, candidates may be considered for Commercial Banking Officer I, II, III, or IV.

Position Overview:


Heritage Bank is excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced commercial banking officer within our commercial team.

This role encompasses a comprehensive range of commercial banking services, including the development of new business and client relationships; the production of various commercial loans; the management of a portfolio of business relationships; and the pursuit of new accounts through outreach efforts, marketing, and referrals. You will also coordinate the cross-sale and delivery of banking products and services to clients while serving as a trusted advisor.

Responsibilities include underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans that align with established lending criteria and maximize profitability for the Bank while minimizing risk.

Depending on the level of the position, you may also be responsible for developing, training, coaching, and motivating less experienced bankers to meet the Bank's lending objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a robust loan portfolio by fostering new and expanding existing business through an effective outreach program.
  • Regularly meet and/or exceed established benchmarks and annual targets.
  • Build strong, profitable relationships with clients and prospects based on mutual respect, understanding, and trust.
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor by evaluating the resources and capabilities of clients' businesses, considering industry dynamics, financial strategies, economic conditions, and market trends.
  • Analyze client needs and recommend suitable solutions that align with the Bank's credit culture while maximizing profitability and shareholder value.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, structure loan financing based on risk considerations, and approve loans within assigned limits.
  • Collaborate with all lines of business within the Bank to create a productive sales and service referral process.
  • Effectively manage client relationships and transactions to mitigate financial and credit risk.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and maintain knowledge of commercial law, UCC, and banking policies.
  • Represent the Bank in the community through active participation in various activities to enhance client and customer engagement.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Marketing preferred.
  • Level I: 2+ years of recent experience as a credit analyst or commercial banker; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Level II: 5+ years of commercial banking experience with advanced knowledge of commercial real estate and C&I lending practices preferred.
  • Level III: 8+ years of progressively responsible commercial lending experience with proven success in managing complex banking relationships.
  • Level IV: 10+ years of progressively responsible commercial lending experience with strong relationship management and business development skills.
  • Formal credit training and/or completion of Pacific Coast Banking School or equivalent highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and automated financial systems.

Work Environment:
Climate-controlled office environment with frequent employee and customer interactions. Flexibility in schedule may be required, including evening work.

Physical Demands:
Work may involve extensive use of computer screens and sitting for prolonged periods. Ability to operate office equipment and perform tasks requiring dexterity of hands and fingers.

Travel Requirements:

The range listed is just one component of Heritage Bank's total compensation package for full-time and part-time employees.
