Pipe Systems Technician

Pipe Systems Technician
The selected candidate will be responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and upkeep of piping systems, supports, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic apparatus for various applications including steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubrication, irrigation, and industrial production processes. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, thread, and shape pipes according to specifications using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
- Secure pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures, including radiators or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading accurately.
- Design pipe system layouts, installations, or repairs in accordance with specifications.
- Select appropriate pipe sizes, types, and related materials, including supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, based on specifications.
- Modify, clean, and maintain piping systems, units, fittings, and related machinery, adhering to specifications and utilizing hand and power tools.
- Install automatic controls to regulate piping systems effectively.
- Operate valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections using valve keys or wrenches.
- Replace worn components as necessary.
- Inspect work areas for obstructions and ensure that openings do not compromise structural integrity.
- Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
- Coat nonferrous piping materials in a mixture of molten tin and lead to prevent erosion or galvanic and electrolytic action.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: No minimum educational requirements.
Certifications/Licenses: NCCER and DL
Experience: 8 years of Journeyman level experience.
