Role Overview: Insulation Technician
The Insulation Technician is responsible for the application, removal, and repair of insulating materials on various surfaces and structures, including air ducts, pipes (both hot and cold), storage tanks, boilers, and buildings. This role is essential for controlling noise levels and maintaining temperature regulation. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints to determine the necessary insulation materials.
- Work confidently at heights.
- Apply adhesives or attach metal applications to insulation materials.
- Assess and select appropriate insulation materials (in sheet, tubular, or roll form) such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on their thermal retention properties, location, surface type, shape, and intended use.
- Utilize measuring tools to accurately cut insulation materials to specified dimensions for various surfaces, employing handsaws, knives, or scissors.
- Fit, wrap, or secure insulation materials around structures in accordance with blueprint specifications.
- Seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, or tape, ensuring proper adherence to the structure based on the insulation type and surface, using tools such as staple guns, trowels, paintbrushes, or caulking guns.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements necessary for an employee to successfully fulfill the essential functions of this position. Specific vision capabilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:
Education: No minimum educational requirements are specified.
Certifications/Licenses: A valid TWIC card, NCCER certification, and driver's license are required.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience at the Journeyman level is preferred.
