Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will undertake a range of responsibilities to guarantee that high-quality nursing care is delivered while fostering an environment that respects the privacy, dignity, and overall well-being of patients. The nurse will support the physician during various interventional procedures, ensuring operational efficiency and a keen focus on patient safety. A compassionate and sensitive approach is essential, complemented by the ability to think critically and respond swiftly in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to physician directives for all patients.
  • Utilizes expertise, skills, and judgment to deliver exceptional and targeted patient care.
  • Engages in accurate documentation of medications and treatments administered to patients.
  • Conducts systematic and continuous assessments of patients' conditions post-anesthesia, documenting and communicating vital information.
  • Regularly evaluates patient progress towards set outcomes, adjusting care plans and interventions as necessary.
  • Reports significant findings and updates to the physician, anesthesiologist, and/or CRNA.
  • Assesses patient responses immediately following procedures, providing necessary interventions and evaluating outcomes.
  • Contributes to the enhancement of nursing practices within the facility.
  • Complies with and encourages adherence to established objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in managing the inventory of supplies and equipment, promoting their effective use.
  • Oversees the management of medications, ensuring timely reordering and proper disposal of outdated stock.
  • Evaluates the performance of assigned colleagues, communicating any needs for improvement to management.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding management information and demonstrates discretion in communication.
  • Follows established policies and procedures, reporting any deviations to supervisors.
  • Participates in the orientation process for new staff members.
  • Welcomes constructive feedback from supervisors positively.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach to initiating corrective actions.
  • Familiarizes with the facility's safety and emergency protocols and understands their role in such events.
  • Exhibits cost-effective practices in managing materials and supplies.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure with the relevant nursing board.
  • Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proof of current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or completion within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center setting.
  • Required perioperative experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Maintains satisfactory attendance and promptly notifies supervisors of any absences.
  • Punctuality in reporting for scheduled shifts.
  • Adheres to facility and regulatory guidelines.
  • Respects the cultural and religious beliefs of patients.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to twenty (20) pounds; moving, lifting, or transferring patients may require lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills and visual acuity are necessary.
