Nursing Attendant-Central Nursing Service-Evening Shift

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Attendant to join our Central Nursing Service team on an evening shift. As a Nursing Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Admission/Transfer/Discharge of patients: Orient patients to the hospital environment, provide toileting supplies, and assist with removing clothes and safeguarding personal property.
- Conduct patient rounds for toileting, positioning, comfort, safety, and personal needs, and respond to patient call lights promptly.
- Assemble oxygen and suction setups, and provide basic hygiene to patients, including bathing, AM/PM care, mouth care, denture care, hair care, nail and foot care, and shaving.
- Prepare patients for meals, including clearing overbed tables, positioning patients correctly, and assisting with feeding.
- Perform and/or assist patients with simple treatments, collect specimens as directed, and inform RNs of any audible clinical alarms.
- Assist with moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients, and assist with removal and security of patient personal items prior to procedures.
- Change linen in accordance with policy and as necessary, and take and electronically record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, and respiration.
- Measure and record oral intake, urinary output, bowel elimination, gastric and other drainage, and perform post-mortem care.
- Perform safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints, and report any changes observed in patients' conditions to RNs.
- Respond to and meet patient/family needs and customer concerns with compassion and understanding, and establish effective, caring relationships with staff, patients, family, and other members of the healthcare team.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant program or minimum 6 months relevant experience.
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required upon entry to the position.
- Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading, and writing abilities; other language an asset.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
