Role Overview

The Senior Acoustics Engineer will collaborate with the Acoustics and Installation Aerodynamics team to conduct community noise evaluations for commercial aircraft while pinpointing opportunities for comprehensive engine, component, and cabin noise mitigation. In this capacity, you will facilitate both full-scale and subscale acoustic testing through meticulous test planning, data analysis, and comprehensive reporting of noise outcomes. Additionally, the Senior Acoustics Engineer will innovate internal acoustic tools and apply computational aeroacoustic (CAA) techniques to evaluate noise from commercial aircraft engine components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Acoustics Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing acoustic analysis, design, testing, and integration under the guidance of senior engineering personnel to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that adhere to business standards and product specifications.
  • Documenting and conveying acoustic design, analysis, and testing data results effectively.
  • Conducting computational aeroacoustics (CAA) analyses.
  • Designing and evaluating acoustic liners and treatment technologies utilizing a variety of proprietary and commercial tools.
  • Supporting the acoustics team through computational modeling, tool development, and validation efforts.
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in the preparation and execution of testing programs to meet objectives within established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Contributing to process enhancements, sharing insights gained, and documenting best practices.
  • Interfacing with internal leadership, suppliers, partners, and airframe customers.
  • Preparing invention disclosures to safeguard technology that provides a competitive edge for the business, as well as protecting the company's intellectual property rights.
  • Effectively communicating and offering recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external stakeholders using reports, records, and formal correspondence.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in acoustics.
  • A demonstrated enthusiasm for the aviation acoustics sector.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in acoustics.
  • Familiarity with acoustic testing, data post-processing, and evaluation within the aviation sector.
  • Experience conducting computational analyses on high-performance computing (HPC) resources.
  • Proven ability to document, plan, and manage technical projects.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership capabilities.
