Position Overview:

The City of Cincinnati is in search of a Senior Engineering Manager to join the Office of the Director within the Lead Section.

This role will primarily focus on the strategic planning, design, and execution of the Lead Service Line Replacement Initiative (LSLRI).

Since its inception in 2016, this initiative is set to undergo significant expansion due to upcoming regulatory changes.

The program serves as a benchmark for utilities nationwide, necessitating a high-level manager to ensure compliance with new regulations.

The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee and advocate for this extensive and intricate replacement initiative, which includes substantial efforts to enhance the local vendor network and engage in outreach to boost customer involvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Deputy Director to manage budget planning and monitoring.
  • Provide complex and responsible staff assistance to the Office of the Director.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment while managing competing priorities within large-scale infrastructure projects.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of engineering design principles and specifications, along with expertise in capital project planning.

Exceptional communication and leadership abilities are essential.


Knowledge Requirements:

  • Modern engineering principles and practices relevant to the assigned responsibilities.
  • Surveying techniques and field data collection methods.
  • Systems and processes pertinent to the engineering domain.

  • Read and interpret engineering and architectural plans accurately.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a closely related field is required.

Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of seven years of successful project management experience in transportation, construction, or design at a supervisory level.


Other Requirements:

Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio is mandatory. If not registered at the time of appointment, registration must be obtained during the probationary period.

A valid Driver's License is also required.


Working Conditions:

This position involves both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to various weather conditions and construction project settings.

Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, as well as light to moderate lifting and manual dexterity.
