Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Literacy Program Coordinator to join our team at Up Excellence Academy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Coaching:
    • Lead bi-weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on enhancing teachers' instructional practices and student learning outcomes.
    • Facilitate discussions and activities that strengthen teacher capacity in literacy instruction.
  • Data-Driven Instruction:
    • Assist teachers in creating personalized learning plans by analyzing student data from assessments, running records, and classroom observations.
    • Provide actionable insights to drive targeted interventions and instructional adjustments.
  • Instructional Support:
    • Model effective lessons and co-teach as needed to demonstrate best practices in literacy instruction.
    • Collaborate with teachers to develop clear instructional goals and track progress toward those goals.
    • Conduct informal classroom observations and contribute to formal observations, providing constructive feedback to improve instructional delivery.
  • Guided Reading Implementation:
    • Manage the guided reading library, ensuring resources are organized, accessible, and aligned with instructional needs.
    • Set expectations and milestones for guided reading group setup, execution, and effectiveness.
    • Develop and support systems for running records, monitoring group progress, and evaluating skill development.
  • Capacity Building:
    • Work closely with teachers to enhance their ability to meet diverse student needs in literacy.
    • Provide ongoing professional development and resources to support high-impact teaching strategies.
  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with school leadership and instructional teams to align literacy goals with school-wide initiatives.
    • Actively contribute to the development and evaluation of Up Excellence Academy's literacy program.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Reading or Literacy.
  • Proven experience in literacy instruction, coaching, and curriculum implementation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with teachers, students, and families.
  • Familiarity with guided reading practices, running records, and data-driven instruction.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of Up Excellence Academy.

Estimated Salary:

$65,000 - $85,000 per year
