Sales Application Engineer - Piller Power Systems Inc.
Job Summary:
The Sales Application Engineer serves as the main liaison for all inquiries related to sales at Piller. This role is pivotal in supporting the sales initiatives for the entire range of Piller products and services, reporting directly to the Technical Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for Piller Sales (both internal and external) regarding the preparation of technical proposals and cost assessments.
- Analyze and assess customer technical specifications to identify the optimal application of Piller's offerings.
- Draft technical and commercial proposal documents along with necessary cost data for projects ranging from hundreds of kilo-Watts to multi mega-Watt projects. Coordinate proposal preparation across various Piller departments, including headquarters and vendor/customer contacts.
- Assist in creating project-specific specification documents for vendors, including switchgear, magnetics, enclosures, diesel generators, and batteries.
- Ensure adherence to current sales operations standards for all Piller products and services, including:
* Bills of material, equipment pricing, and quotations.
* Pricing for start-up, service, and maintenance contracts.
* Delivery timelines and inventory status.
* Proposal information and technical documentation.
* Commercial considerations, including payment terms, insurance, tax rates, and shipping costs.
- Manage CRM tools in relation to sales forecasts.
- Support the Technical Sales Manager and VP of Sales in maintaining the technical and commercial database, suggesting enhancements to databases and sales workflows.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all Piller products and current trends in critical power systems applications.
- Understand Piller's marketing, sales, distribution, installation, and service functions, assisting as needed to ensure proper market perception of Piller's products.
- Become well-acquainted with sales opportunities identified by direct sales representatives and assist management in closing these opportunities.
- Stay alert for improvement opportunities and make recommendations when applicable. Additionally, pursue ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with all Piller personnel.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
Educational/Training Requirements:
The Sales Application Engineer should possess training and experience in the following areas:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, or
- Associate Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of technical sales support experience in the electrical or electronic sector, or
- Technical school training and/or equivalent military technical training with at least two (2) years of technical sales support experience in critical power systems.
Experience:
- Experience in the UPS or power sector is advantageous.
- Prior work experience in applications or technical sales support is beneficial.
Licenses/Certifications:
- No specific licenses required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong time management, planning, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within the Power Engineering community.
- Achievement-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with CAD and CRM systems.
Physical Demands:
- The physical demands are minimal and typical of similar roles in comparable organizations.
- This is primarily an office-based position with occasional travel requirements.
