Job Title: Sous Chef

Join Azul Hospitality as a Sous Chef and take on a challenging role that requires leadership, creativity, and attention to detail. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, production, and control for all food outlets and banquet facilities at our resort.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation and Production: Direct food preparation, production, and control for all food outlets and banquet facilities.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and coordinate activities of lead cooks, line cooks, prep cooks, and stewards.
  • Menu Development and Quality Control: Enhance the food product presented to guests, make changes in response to market trends and guest needs, and recommend changes to the food product.
  • Inventory Management: Read menu to estimate food requirements, order food products and supplies from vendors, and maintain inventory levels.
  • Staff Management: Supervise staff in all food preparation, including proper receiving and storage of all food and food-related items, and expedite peak meal periods by maintaining a 'hands-on' approach.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation standards and regulations, team member productivity and performance, cost controls, and overall profitability.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school or equivalent education required; minimum of two years of culinary schooling preferred.
  • Experience: Five years of prior experience as a Chef with knowledge of most international and domestic dishes.
  • Certifications: Certification as a Chef or Certified Master Chef by a government-accredited culinary agency; Safe Server Alcohol & Food Handlers certification required.
Working Conditions:

The Sous Chef will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with exposure to extreme temperatures, heavy lifting, and standing for long periods. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
