About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Information Specialist I to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for processing release of information requests, maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company software and systems.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Inform manager of work difficulties and/or fluctuating volumes.
  • Assist with additional work duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed.
  • Able to work overtime during peak seasons when required.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Detail and quality oriented as it relates to accurate and compliant information for medical records.
  • Strong data entry skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Previous production/metric-based work experience.
  • In-person customer service experience.
Working Conditions

Work is generally performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach horizontally and vertically for overhead use, and use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.
