Overview:

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist II is tasked with executing, evaluating, and reporting laboratory examinations on samples to guarantee precise and dependable outcomes by following established protocols and guidelines.

Under direct oversight, this position is accountable for diagnosing and maintaining sophisticated laboratory equipment, managing tasks to meet processing timelines, and remaining informed on competencies and regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist II is integral in providing precise and prompt diagnostic data that aids in patient care and treatment strategies.


Responsibilities:


Conducts all procedures related to the examination of laboratory samples, ensuring compliance with established protocols to secure accurate and dependable test results.

Engages in quality control and assurance measures to uphold precision in sample testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.

Oversees and troubleshoots advanced laboratory instruments and testing systems, documenting corrective measures prior to releasing test results to ensure reliable outcomes.

Manages responsibilities and organizes workload to meet defined laboratory processing timelines for effective patient care and treatment strategies.

Remains current on annual competencies, ongoing education requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to safety and compliance policies and procedures.

Practices efficient utilization of resources and actively participates in inventory management to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
Performs additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.

EXPERIENCE:Preferred: Six months experience as a technical generalist

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Must possess Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from one of the following upon hire: ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or AMT (American Medical Technologists).
