Job Overview

Become a vital part of our esteemed healthcare team at UW Health.

We are in search of a Radiologic Imaging Specialist to:
  • Conduct a diverse range of imaging procedures on various patient demographics, including adults, seniors, adolescents, and children, utilizing advanced radiographic technology, computers, detectors, and imaging plates.
  • Exhibit proficiency in troubleshooting basic equipment maintenance, engage in quality assurance activities, and address challenges related to image processing and archiving systems.
  • Possess the expertise to make swift and complex technical decisions to accommodate physical limitations and medical conditions.
  • Act as a clinical mentor for affiliated imaging training programs and contribute to the education of fellow technologists and visiting healthcare professionals, with opportunities to engage in clinical research.
Educational Background:

Minimum - Completion of a Radiologic Technology program.

Preferred - Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

Professional Experience:

Minimum - Prior experience in a healthcare setting.

Preferred - A minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice.

Certifications and Licenses:

Minimum -
  • Certification from the appropriate governing body (ARRT) and a valid Wisconsin Radiological License. Out-of-state candidates are encouraged to apply and must obtain a Wisconsin Radiological License prior to employment.
  • CPR certification is required within three months of hire.
  • If Bone Mineral Densitometry is part of the role, certification in Bone Mineral Densitometry is required within 30 months of hire.
Preferred -
  • Radiology certification.
  • If Bone Mineral Densitometry is part of the role: ARRT Bone Densitometry Technologist (BD) or ISCD Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) within one year of completing orientation.

  • Understanding of quality improvement and care standards in the practice area.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the demands of both internal and external customers affecting departmental operations.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods.
  • Physical capability to lift and position patients and assist with transfers using beds or stretchers.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Demonstrated critical care skills for patients with higher acuity (ED, ICU, NICU, PICU, Intraoperative Neuro MR, OR).
Physical Demands:

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:

90% FTE, night shift.
